Britta's Inn Bed and Breakfast is located in one of Astoria, Oregon's original, historic neighborhoods; just a five to ten minute walk to downtown, the (seasonal) Sunday Market, Liberty Theatre, fine restaurants, historic homes, River Walk Trail with Riverfront Trolley, free shuttles to Fort Clatsop, the wonderful Maritime Museum. We are a twenty minute walk to the Astoria Column!
Columbia River
Astoria, Oregon is the oldest town west of the Rockies, originally settled by fur traders working for John Jacob Astor.
The 2005-2006 winter marked the bi-centennial of the Lewis and Clark Expedition reaching the Pacific Ocean. All of this and at one of the Country's most unique and aesthetic areas; at the mouth of the Columbia River. Watch the sandbar pilots guide shipping past the sandbar, listen to seals bark in the afternoon, enjoy the beauty of the bridge, or peruse the many shops along the waterfront.
Astoria Column
Other local landmarks include the Heritage Museum, the Flavel House, the Goonies House(!), the Kindergarden Cop neighborhood and school; truly a "Classic" American town.
The majestic beaches of Oregon are just a short drive away, as are golf, fishing, Ft. Stevens State Park and Cape Disappointment, Washington. Just a bit farther are Seaside and Cannon Beach, Oregon, as well as Long Beach, Washington.
